Anyone enjoy Electronic music or dabble in production?

I am a die hard fan of Scifi movies and novels, so naturally I gravitated heavily towards electronic music listening growing up. Combined with an obsession for old electronics, the analog synthesizer immediately got its hooks in. Over time I became a hobbyist producer and started creating works of my own. (link attached of some recently finished work if interested) So who else dabbles in this part of the music world? Or just enjoys listening and has some good recommendations?

I'm a metal guy, but I occasionally enjoy some electronic stuff. Mostly synthwave (Dance of the Dead) and hybrid bands like Pendulum.

I liked your track! What do you use for production?

Thanks for the kind words guys, I did that track entirely inside my DAW (FL studio) with a couple of my favorite synth plugins. I am working on some new ambient stuff using a pair of Elektron machines. I like picking a couple instruments and doing a focused project using only a few tools.

matteekay - I also enjoy metal quite a bit and play 7 string guitar as a hobby. I'll have to checkout the groups you mentioned. When I read synthwave I immediately thought of things like And One, Project Pitchfork or Seabound. Maybe their darkwave? I can't keep this **** straight. lol

That's another metal/electro commonality - lots of subgenres, lol.

"Synthwave" typically refers to 80's-ish sounding electro, like Lazerhawk:

I like Dance with the Dead because they bring in real instruments:

Gunship is another hybridized group:

And Pendulum... well.. they're a beast onto themselves. Unfortunately, Rob Swire (their mainman/frontman) has been focusing solely on Knife Party since 2010's "Immersion". The good news is that Pendulum is headlining several festivals this year so we might get a new album after all.

Everything on my youtube channel was created with either the Teenage Engineering OP-1 or the Novation Ciruit. Both super fun.

I dabble a little.
so many songs are started and not finished.
I feel like one day my brain will finally organize things, I'll finally remember how I did that think in FL Studio, like, five minutes ago, and I'll finish up this album in about a week.
I think I'm learning through tinkering in Photoshop with the cover faster than I'm doing any of the music.

But for what it's worth, yeah, synthwave is currently my jam. Even though most of what I've been working on sounds more like it came through a Super Nintendo.
When I'm writing, I like to put on anything by Auxcide. Spacey sci-fi inspirational goodness.

Back in the day I was really into it, regular concert goer, helped produce some songs with friends. Thats all in the past.

But it looks like my soundcloud account I setup to collect various songs i like still exists.

I forgot the password and the email account associated with it. I may one day make a new account and port over the songs.
