Mini'ed?

Whats the diffrence between a normal autococker body and a mini'ed one? Is the performance different?

It just means the extra block of aluminum on the body underneath the barrel (or the thing the VASA is attached to) is cut off.

There is a vertical adapter, screw, oring, and a 1/8 npt plug on a standard cocker. None of this stuff is on a minicocker. You might add a vertical adapter to a minicocker, but there are also one piece front blocks available.

If you're going to pump it, you should just leave it as is. Mini-style pump kits are outrageously expensive, plus they're about the same size and weight as a normal "un-mini'd" kit.

Or, you could have it mini'd, tapped for a 2K pump kit and side car it.

As someone who's mini'd a full block cocker I should mention that the the mini frontblock/ 15* ASA combo that Compulsive carries didn't fit the 2k2 body I did the work on without modification.

If you wanted to knock mini'ing a 'cocker at all I guess you could argue that you're decreasing the available volume behind the valve by a considerable amount. This would only ever come into play on an electro 'cocker set up for LP.

The tap you'd need to thread the valve chamber is 9/16-24 and wouldn't come with any commercial tap kit you'd buy so you'd need to buy it seperately. I'd also recommend tapping the body before you mini it so the available threads would act as a guide because these are threads you definitely want to run true.

Edit: The threading mentioned is for a modern autococker post '99 I believe.

Why is it that every time anyone says autococker, everyone thinks they want to pump it?

I mean, I know a majority do, but still.
