Old newbie...hello all

54 years old and just went paintballing for the first time with a group of guys from work. It was a blast! Just used the rental equipment, but I'm seriously looking into buying my own. Anyway, I look forward to learning from you all.

Welcome to the forum! So I'm guessing you're hooked now huh? What field did you play? Tell us a little about the equipment you used and how the day went!

Welcome to our addiction, and welcome to MCB.
You definitely came to the right forum, the demographic here is a bit older than most paintball forums, you'll fit right in.

Welcome! you're probably closer to the average age here than I am but that doesn't mean we all won't have fun!

Thanks, glad to be here!
The field I played was CPX Sports in Joliet, IL. I just used the rental equipment which was the basic Tippman 98, but the gun held up fine, no issues. Biggest problem I had was my mask fogging up early on. Rather cool day with sporadic rain. I already had a decent amount of camo, so no real extra expense there. I did find I was outgunned in a few fields, but it didn't matter, I enjoyed every minute of the experience. Now I'm looking to buy my own gear and will probably get it right here from one of your members.
I've got a lot of research to do here. Great site!

start with your biggest problem. the mask...obviously pick up something with a thermal lense. A nice pack with pods should be next. Then from there go for your own gun, hopper, and air setup.

The other thing you will find is that no matter what you buy now you will probably change it as you find your style of game play, and thats ok. Be sure to buy quality and you'll be fine even on the resale if needed. That is one of the things I love about paintball, new toys!

my recommendation is to not go to CPX there prices are insane, they have cool fields but their prices are insane, I will play there maybe once every year, 2 max including scenarios and i play pump so i don't shoot much. As stated above i recommend going the extra bit on Masks, I would go to a store what ever it be and try on them and feel and look at the protection, masks are the best piece of equipment. Everything else can be researched and feel free to ask any of the members questions, great community here.
