I subscribe to the 2 pair method myself.
The single most important thing I use though is a pair of ankle braces
I've seen too many bad injuries that could have been avoided by wearing these..

I'm another Smartwool socks guy. The only people who don't where Smartwool are those who haven't tried them! I wear boots for my job and exclusively wear Smartwool socks. This includes occasionally working 15 or 16 hour days on the flight deck of aircraft carriers! They pull moisture away from your foot and keep them dry. Dr. Scholls would never make another set of insoles if everyone knew about Smartwool socks!

I got a pair of "Springfoot" socks as a gift some 20 years ago. They were awesome, but cost $15.00 a pair.
I'm going to Google them and see if they're still made..........
