Need advice on gear
I haven't played in a few years and I'd like to get back into it but I will need all new kit. I'm not even sure where to start but I guess the biggest thing that I don't have is a marker.
Now it seems in my absince that things have changed. Smart Parts was bought by GOG, DYE has a mil sim marker, Tippman is still Tippman.
So what should I be looking at for a mid range purpose build woodsball marker?
Do you want pump, mech, or electro?
The only one I have an opinion on is mech; get an eNMEy.
That's a bit too speedbally for me.
I want an out of the box woodsball gun. I was thinking maybe an SP-1 but I wanted input from my brethen before I put down money for a marker.
The SP-1 is a GREAT gun...especially seeing as ANS has them for sale for $130 right now.
(Though I am wondering how a single-trigger, mech, all black gun can be "too speedbally", but to each his own.)
That's exactly what I was thinking!
But I didn't want to get one only to have someone ask me why I didn't get a G1 or something else. The only thing holding me back from the SP-1 is I can't find a stock or drop forward for it.
Any old drop with standard bottomline holes will fit.
Really, for the price, getting a G1 over the SP1 wouldn't even make sense. Put that extra money towards your mask, tank, or hopper (depending on what you already have).
Also, if anyone questions your choice, tell 'em to piss off. It's your money, your gun, your choice. Everyone else's opinions mean jack.
the sp1 is a good lil marker but if you want to kill it in performance look at a bt tm7. i know new they cost a lil more but well worth the extra cost or you could buy a used one and have a hell of a shooter. get a rip clip for it and a decent barrel and you are set. it will keep up with anything bps wise and be lighter than all the other milsim tippman and even the sp1/g1 i think. don't quote e on the weight comparison to the sp and gog guns. i am still looking for another one of the tm7 it was the best scenario gun i have ever shot other than my phantom and other pumps
I don't have anything right now but I want to be sure I don't have buyers remorse later on.
Nothing stopping you from going pump either really. You are talking woodsball.
Point is, get a good mask and something basic just to get back into the swing of playing. Your first few games are going to be spent thinking to yourself "Oh yeah! That's what it's like to get shot there!" anyway, so just get something you know works.
I really don't see any reason for buyers remorse taking this route either, because you'll either like the gun and keep it, or upgrade and then you'll have a good loaner or just sell it off.
Maybe some of my gun projects can help. I have a few SP1s and a Few VIBEs in there as well:
