Tippmann 98 problems

My girlfriend bought a 98 from a teammate of mine (and for $15 who wouldn't?) it worked just fine with the single trigger but now that we installed a double trigger, it's giving some issues. Whether we fire slow or fast it will occasionally "double fire" I put the quotations in there because it acts like that but only fires 1 ball. I'm thinking it may be the sear or sear spring but if anyone can help before I go and spend money on stuff I may not need it would be appreciated.

Stupid phone posted in the wrong section

Tippmann 98s do not have problems. You've broken the universe. Impressive.

In all seriousness, it might be the sear catch on the double trigger, since the single works fine. If it's worn, it might not let the sear reset to the correct angle, so the hammer cycles twice before it latches.

If I remember correctly, the double trigger kit should have come with new springs, for trigger or sear or both, can't recall clearly.

Did you change any springs?

I could be wrong on a new spring, its been almost 15 years since i put the trigger on there.

Just looked at the parts list and not spring comes with the kit.

Are you sure the trigger/sear spring did not move during reassembly?

Have you tried reinstalling the single trigger?
It could be that the sliding portion of your double trigger is mismanufactured.

If it's not what the inflicted said. Usually it's either the sear spring, or the sear itself, or a worn out o ring on the hammer. Occasionally I have heard of the sear pin bending too, which has the effect you're talking about, but that is rarer.

Took it apart and it looks like the sear is worn. I'm going to swap it with another one and see if that fixes it.
