Nelsons have a very distinct feel to them, I generally prefer Sheridan, but it's really all up to the user.

here question that have not been brought up. if your not sure what style you want. then do this try to find pump group from FL region ask if you can try it out. since you see if you like or not. you also get feel for it and if have any question FL pump group might be able to help you. but might help in that route since we are so spread out now and hardly get group back as whole since we all move on or live to far. was not for medical stuff i had done in 2011 i would be playing again but in till skins get back to where does not cut easy.

Since you're in Temple Terrace, hit up Orbital Paintball. My friend Reese is a huge Nelson based fan, even has his SC Phantom for sale, Jimmy uses an Azodin KP3, once my KP2 is done, I'll have it out there, and we have other pump players as well, including a guy who uses a Sterling, but he doesn't show up much. There's also Gator, which Jimmy and Reese frequent more often, about an hour north of you, you'll find Ninja Dave there, nice old school baller who could really help you out if you want to go Nelson based.

Parts are everywhere for nelsons, most are compatible, some you
you may have to play around with to find what works(im down this rabbit hole right now and can be a pain sometimes), for a cheap smooth pump you cant beat a trracer, polish up the internals, spring kit, and slap a tape detent in it and play

Most of the springs are swappable with phantom springs. The cup seal PROBABLY interchanges as well, but if not, bacci has them from time to time (I've also got a few I could probably part with).

Awesome input, as to be expected. The Phantom keeps coming up enough that I'm going to start there and see where it takes me. I'm at Orbital, the field chrisrook mentioned, so I'll be talking to the guys there as soon as I can ditch the crutches.

Thanks!

as for someone that been playing since 1991. i rather try gun out first to see if i like or not. since you get feel for gun and will not if like or not. then second guessing your self why did i spend the cash or money.
