Refilling from scuba tanks is the only way to go.
A. The air is cleaner than from the field. Scuba air is used for human consumption so you know it's been filtered.
B. Cheap. Refilling an 80cuin tank is about $6 @ dive shop

Down side:
A. Annual inspection is about $50.
B. Requires purchase of a "fill station" adapter for hpa tanks. About $35.
C. Gotta buy the tank. Used one about $70.

They need annual inspections? I did not know that.

They do sell a cheap version of high pressure hand pump on the Ebays for like 30-50 range. I just got one about a month ago. I'd say it was worth it, but be prepared for a workout and make sure your screws are tight when you put it together.

Wait, so it allows you to hand-fill a 3k+ tank? Why is this the first time I'm hearing about this?

Yes I've pumped up to 4k on a single tank before, it takes a little bit to do and it is a workout, but hey you get to fill it for free.

Benjamin pump is what is usually recommended. Something like 350 strokes to fill a 48ci 3k tank I think.

The off brand versions are ok, but I've seen a lot of complaints, or bad assembly.

These pumps use 3 stages so are a bit different than a normal hand pump. They work pretty good.

That's so cool, I'm still blown away that I've never heard of this before.

I picked up a $300 4500psi compressor from ebay. Works like a charm and its all in one. Sold for PCP air guns and paintball.
