I've been using mountain bike gloves with some knuckle padding.

Mechanix M-Pact gloves in the color of your choice. They last a long time, break in quickly, and the rubber has saved my knuckles more than once. Have even gotten bounces off of them. Well worth the money.

If you like full finger gloves (which I do), the Eclipse gloves are very good. I also like Mechanix in the thinner versions.

Mm. Handerpants. Well the look is definitely there but not much in the way of any protection

Maybe I could add a codpiece? The bulge will add some protection while sending a subtle message to everyone

Regular Mechanix. When my friend was in the Army he ended up with a bunch of "leftover" Camelbak ones which were pretty decent too.

These nitrile-coated jersey gloves also work well:

They're extremely grippy, thin, and pretty breatheable. The above isn't the exact ones I purchased (bought mine from Advance Auto), but I'm assuming that they're similar.
