Ahh that makes sense.
Yearly shoe allowances are a wonderful thing! Nevermind about the composite toes then- I just anticipated that you still required safety toes.

I'm getting a pair of cleats since I've started playing more indoor ball during the week. Mostly for grip is why, seeing as one of the last starts I did I slipped on the astroturf and did a complete chest plant with arms splayed out for the extra style points!

Make sure to get the right kind for turf, some are downright slippery on turf ...

ok my view points and 2 cents

Football/baseball cheats- great for outdoor trimmed fields. not so good on rocks and slippery surfaces because of traction. would not get a low top. mid or high for support.

Soccer cheats, as as above but somewhat better on rocks and slippery surfaces. usually only comes in low tops.

boots- great for any type of rugged terrain outdoors. heavy but great support.

personally i wear mid high football cheats for my woodsball and speedball events. i also have enough gear covering my legs to keep them from getting anymore battle wounds. playing in brairs is not fun but fun as hell now with my gear. lol.

general rule with shoes, u have to break them in first. don't try to wear brand new footwear to a full day of paintball. u'll end up hurting (blisters).

I have to find some new boots, mine are some cheap 8" water proof boots I got at a Big 5 on sale at 75% off for $15. They are great boots, they just don't have enough tread for rugged outdoor terrain.

Flat ground, great. Sandy? You bet! Meadow, oh yeah! Hill, mud, loose junk on the ground, slightly inclined dirt? Nope.

Oh you'd think a desk job doesn't require steel toes, right up until the point you almost drop a filing cabinet drawer on your feet when one of the side rails breaks. ***KER-BAM!***

Lemme just say, there's no thrill like it...

...also, 70 pounds of paper takes LOOONG time to clean up.
