No way, they don't need an excuse, it's their own business, they could say "we require all players to wear a rainbow afro wig" and guess what, it's their field, you want to play there you play by their rules.

I'm curious if anyone knows, where there any changes that had to happen to fsr to have them meet astm

Great news. Glad to hear FSR are finally legitimized.

No. There were no changes made to the FSR to meet the ASTM. Several years ago, Tiberius Arms (now known as "First Strike") proposed changes to the ASTM standard for projectiles, that myself and other committee members voted on before the changes were ratified. As for the specific changes, it generally now addresses paintball projectiles as a whole provided that they fall under the appropriate weights, lengths, calibers, frangibility, and toxicity (as in no EPA identified toxins) requirements.

As for fields limiting/allowing whatever they like, that is true but now, they can't say that FS rounds are not under the standard and, it makes it harder for insurance companies to justify excluding them from coverage or for charging more for coverage.

Sure they don't have that excuse but the majority of fields are field paint only. If they don't sell fsr then, none for you

There's at least one field around here that does BYOFSR even when it isn't BYOP days.

Albany Paintball Experience (APE) in Upstate NY is always BYOP/BYOFSR - they sell paint and fsr as well, but that's not the focus.

Ya it's not like I'm saying byop fields don't exist, they are just not the norm that's all
