Holy hell. Sounds like it would just be easier to machine that fricken thing. lol. Very cool technique by the sounds of it. I'm guessing lighter than actual steel?

Very cool, if I run into some disposable income I will consider grabbing one of these.

As expensive as that is, I'm not at all surprised. 3D printing is a painfully slow process. A body like this would probably take a full day to print on most printers. I've looked at selling my own designs on Shapeways too and the prices, even before seller's markup, aren't exactly cheap. That's why I typically try selling my own designs here off of my own printer and uncercut the prices on sites like Shapeways

Currently have a 3D printed body, and I would HIGHLY recommend going for the material that offers the most rigidity with 100% fill. The pro-grade stuff IS worth it.

Both processes shape way uses are better than a typical filament printer.

I tested abs ones I did on a lulzbot and had to many issues.

The high grade plastic is laser fused nylon. Totally worth the costs involved.... But people are cheap so I'm testing the lower end material currently. Be on the lookout for white swoops those are my testers and I gave a few out.

I would wager a guess that the newness and the MSRP of the Emek is probably going to be a hiccup too. The point about $500 bodies on a $250 cocker is a good point, but cockers are a legendary piece of equipment and the Emek is about a month old.

Once they spread a bit and people are hankering for customization I bet you'll see an upswing.
