Palmer barrel?s

Hey everybody, I am thinking of getting a palmer barrel for a few of my guns. I was wondering what a good all-purpose bore would be, .680 or .685 with wedgits. Also what length would be good length(I know this is just preference but I would like some opinions). The guns I would most likely use this on are my sniper and my gargoyle, Thanks!

It all depends on the local paint sizes your dealing with. I am a believer in underboring my guns for better efficiency.

In SoCal, with the tiny paint I've seen out there, I'd say .680 with or without widgets.

I'd go .685 with standard wedgits. I have a Dual spiral vented .690 with slightly deeper than standard wegits. It shoots ultra evil quite well. I say go for it. PPS barrels are amazing and a great investment.

How small of paint does 685 with normal wedgits hold? Could a .685 shoot .685 paint properly as well as say .680 paint? It is my inderstanding that a .680 would not shoot say .685 paint properly but if a .685 with wedgits could shoot a wider variety a paint with good results then it would be what I am looking for right?

On another note does porting really matter for anything other than sound signature. I am thinking NO porting because cleaning paint out of all of porting is highly annoying and I want this to be a very convenient all purpose barrel so any other advice would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

I would go with single spiral venting then. It's more efficient than the dual. I would say if you are worried about the paint match then go with shallow wedgits. I had a .685 with shallow wedgits for my old BZ and Pyre, but I used the .690 mostly due to the fact that the paint was larger in HAwaii.

I know a lot of people in Cali swear by the .685. Best best is to call.

The porting (allegedly) slightly improves consistency/accuracy. Craig can explain it better than I.

Well they say that the porting in a barrel definitley helps to reduce the turbulance on the ball as opposed to a barrel with no porting.

I've been looking into doing the same thing, mainly to prevent roll outs. I was going to get .680 bore and wedgets and hope that the small bore size + the wedgets would completely remove any roll out issues. I already have a large bore x cell barrel for larger bored paint, but it seams the largest paint I can find is .684. I was also planning on going with no porting to keep the price down. I'm intrested to see what advice you get on here, because essentially I'm looking for the same thing.
