Basic sound system question

So i have a really nice thx certifide sound system, BUT, due to space constraints in the new area, i was wondering if i have to have all 5 speakers hooked up. What if i 2ant juat the front and center speakers? Is leaving the other speaker input jacks empty causing any shorts or opens?

The amp is mounted to the rear of the sub, so all speakers hook to the back of the sub via rca cable type.

Thanks

I run 3 instead of 5 all the time. It wouldnt cause any problems unless you had a weird setup with the speakers running in series, for the correct ohm rating.

In your setup, just tell it you don't have the rears connected, and it would redirect the audio into the front.

Ok, perfect. Thank you. I have left them unhooked and it sounds good:) i have not added any extra speakers to it. I think its an 8 ohm system so i can run two 8's in parrallel or two 4's in series. But i have not done that. Thanks for the reply. I have only had some basic electronics theory and never any application haha. All my schooling is focused on mechanical engineering and not electrical haha
