Hopper for a pump - ideal capcity?

Hey gang,

I'm looking into designing a new hopper with my brother. Nothing too crazy, no electronics or anything. I'm fairly dissatisfied with the current offerings of hoppers in the pump world. Winnies and the GxG hoppers both have such low ball capacity and feed like crap without some modification. I hear Pinokio has one coming out at some point, I don't know details but I heard a rumor about a $30ish pricetag. I think the one Simon is making(new sportshot) will be good, time will tell.

Anyways, I actually had an idea when I was baby proofing my kitchen. There is a locking gadget that goes around the doorknob and as I put it together an application to paintball struck me. My brother is putting it together in cad and I've been shopping different plastic companies.

I'm going for something with a low profile that feeds decent, is durable, affordable, has an attached flip lid, and looks good. I don't have a price idea yet and probably won't for a few weeks.

My question to all of you is this, what is your ideal paint capcity? This seems to be our only hangup. I was thinking about 100-120, a teamate thought closer to 75-80. Thoughts?

BTW, if all goes well, I should have a run done by summer. More info to follow.

I like the Winchester's size, if only it fed a little better. :P

I think between 80 and 100 is ideal. Sportshots fit about 140 and although they are small, they could be smaller with little loss for me.

Winchesters are too small and fragile for me.

For what you want a Sportshot is perfect.

100 rounds. It will be neat to see a hopper coming from a player. Good luck with the project.

Whatever size matches the pods that you are using.

Honestly, 80-100 should ensure enough to not have to reload during most games. But I hate reloading from a big pod and still having half a pod bouncing around in my pack. Thats why I just stick to a revy, top it off and have enough for 2-3 games and it matches up to the standard 140 round pod nicely.

60 rounds. I've got a virus for a bigger hopper as well as a sportshot. I do have an old BE one that's aropund 40, but 60 would be just right.

60 would also take a 50 round pod nicely, as you wouldn't have to be totally out. I think there are enough offerings in the 100+ range.

Good points, something to consider for sure!

Thanks. I've been playing for about 15 years and I've used just about every hopper made to date. I won't settle for something that sucks

60 would be excellent. I'm also not a fan of 1/2 empty pods. Usually I put ~30-40 in my be hopper and carry a couple 10 rounds just in case.

i'd say a hundred round hopper with provisions for a nice looking agitator would be perfect
