I have made a holster to fit my DSP out of about 18" of 3" fire hose. It seems to work really well and the rubber jacket of the hose doesn't seem to scratch and works as a friction lock when running for me.
You can take a section and pretty much make it however you want it. All you need is a sharp knife, a few pieces of webbing, and some buckles.
If anyone is interested I can see about getting some of our throw away scraps.
