I've seen 2 instances of something like this.

1) Adventure league I think at a store in Toronto, paid a few bucks. But it either ended up getting you a set of dice and a water OR you used it for store credit. So it did make it worthwhile for the store to run it for the space.

2) My old D&D group set up a community space when our game store closed. Every week is either ttrpg or board games people bring into play. Either $5 a night for drop in or $15 for a months pass. All money goes to paying for rent. Last I remember they had at least 3-4 full tables full of games being run. But the usual issue is always DM's.

I honestly don't really have an issue with a table chipping in for the DM's time and work. It can be a lot. And if you check into D&D Beyond (which is kind of neat) but it does have a cost with it. But that cost seems like something that everyone can chip in for the DM's tools. Gives them a good reason to stick around for the game and not flake out.

store i went to in so cal we had to buy few packs of magic cards or if came in to buy our comic books we could play for the day. that included any card games rpg or any other game we want to play at store.
