Man, I cleared out like 800 something messages the other day and it's still over full. I'll probably reup my greenie status after the new year.

Players are lazy and don't read the rules. Staff is lazy and doesn't train their refs on the rules. Tanks mostly the same as players, lazy and don't read them or just outright ignore them.

The event has been on a downward spiral for years now, at this point I don't think it has many years left. Wayne's basically phoning it in. Honestly, the timing is ripe for someone younger (and motivated) to swoop in and start stealing attendance.

The only reason it's still happening now (IMO) is all of the people that show up out of tradition.

Deuce, this hits the nail on the head. It's something I personally have said and have heard repeatedly many many times. Myself and my team have been talking for the past few years especially about playing something other than the finale, but it has been somewhat of a tradition. It seems like each year there is less effort put into the game than there used to be. This year I noticed that the player card that used to have the times for your missions for your unit were not there. All of the "extra's" that used to make the game great are just slowly fading away. Now don't get me wrong, I still love playing there, but it's because of a lot of tradition and familiar friends that keep me coming back.

It's more or less tradition for myself and my team. It has become more of hangout time than anything else, we get a couple of good games that gives us something to talk about and remember but the camping with friends is what makes it even better.

This is not only not true but pure speculation on your part we have two training sessions on rules alone as well as a refresher the day of for new people.

I agree that this game is played for traditionally but if next year is anything like this past year then they will have issues pulling refs. In the Past our old shop Manager had a following with the players and if he asked anyone to ref they would come out of the woodwork, however the new regime doesn't have that following and we actually pulled 20 players and 1 time girl out of our *** the last minute. Another issue we had was 5-6 refs that we trained didn't show up for work that weekend over a beef between the field and their team so next year will be interesting as I mostly likely won't be there either.

This makes me want to ref. I learned more by reffing a few games than I did from playing for at least 5-8 years.
When you ref, you scan and observe. You don't tunnel like most players in the heat of battle.
Thank you refs.

Actually we already had 15, the time girl and other 5 refs we're on standby in case we needed them, approx 10 refs that we're supposed to be there no showed, all of the ones that showed we're trained as well as ref as backups when our normal refs are not available.

I have a copy of the rules printed out so that I can review them at any given time. There are a ton of players who don’t even bother to review the rules, much less abide by them. Hell, our General this year was guilty of this, which is inexcusable. I believe in playing a fair and honest game with the hopes that my teammates and opponents do the same. The future of our sport rests on our shoulders. Instead of just reliving all the failures and shortcomings we need to step up and help to make a change. There are several issues that I witnessed personally that I plan on rectifying as next finale’s General.
