That's not entirely accurate. The bolt extends into the barrel, which is why all the barrels have ramps. Deadlywind even used to bore their barrels a little deeper so the insert sat a bit further...

Theres something about using a 18" on a RF Sniper that just feels right. No real advantage over a 14 or 16. Ill shoot one on my WGP Ranger as well, but that really has more to do with aiming for me.
