It's because you have it plumbed like a 4-way, not a 3-way. If you use an SMAV-3, you need to set it up to air spring. As you have it, there is no venting through the valve and just a slow leak...

SMAV-3, while not as light a pull as an MSV-2, typically behaves a bit better at higher pressures. Though it is also officially not rated for it, I've used them well over 200psi without issue.

They snap onto the stem on the SMAV-3, they typically aren't of much use in the mech conversions, but they come with the valve and can provide a small amount of adjustability in trigger positioning...
