Spare Delta 68's

I have a couple spare Delta's, only problem i'm having with them, is after modding the springs, replacing the pierce block w/ the RAP4, and even modding the valve pin for higher flow, yet they are only shooting about 190-220 fps. I can't get them any higher. My thoughts at this stage is that maybe its just a matter of them 'wearing in.'

And suggestions? Besides putting in a heavier drive spring b/c they are already a fair bit stiff and hard to cock, and that last thing i want is to make it harder.

I know since they are large bore barrels that small paint will go slower, but my two main Delta's shoot the smaller paint fine at this point not really dropping below 250 on the smaller stuff i have in my closet, and easliy hitting 320 with the larger (still small compared to what it used to be) stuff i have. But for whatever reason the two spares are just not happy.

The end result is i want to sell them off, but would feel bad to sell them to someone if they aren't shooting good, ya know?

Have you tried compressing the valve springs a bit? Or, depending on how long they are, cutting a coil or two off?

Umm, maybe...(thats even in the first sentence)

I actually ended up making my own feather weight valve springs (after attempting to compress w/ little results), which is nice because as soon as there isn't enough pressure to recock, the hammer just holds the valve open.

Something like this...though the pin is a bit smoother now.

Valve pins are either the stock ones or same length. Like i said, i've done everything to these spares that i've done to the mains, but for some reason the spares just aren't coming up to speed.

Maybe i could constrict the blowback slot on the valve pins, try to get more air to go 'up' through the chamber/bolt? (i really need to get a dumby 12g constant air adaptor, but have no access to taps, or drill press)

Perhaps you could take a working pistol and systematically swap parts between the two to isolate any problematic components. Titus also sells a pretty nifty dummy cartridge which could help testing.

I wanted to be sure you meant valve springs in addition to drive springs- some people love to play around with the hammer/drive spring and fail to realize that there's only so much that can be done with that.

But if you want to be a wiseass when I'm trying to help you, I guess I won't bother anymore.
