I'm curious if they have this set up for shaped projectiles, there are defense rounds that look like fsr currently

they do/it is - Nelson said while there are only rubber training/"self defense" FSr currently commercially available that the mags/marker is able to shoot them. So if Maxtact(yeah right!) or someone else ever gets around to producing the .50FSr then it should be good to go...
