Dorked ion solenoid

Here's a funky one. With hose assembly pressed on an held with firm hand pressure, the armature functions as it should. When I put the retainer clip on, it just clicks and doesn't throw the armature at all.
Anyone dealt with an issue like this before? Its still got original o rings.

Dorked ion solenoid

Is the retainer clip doing anything to the solenoid wires or the solder connections from the solenoid wire to the board?

Bad hose, or bad hose barb.
When you put pressure on with your hand it seals the leak.

It's not contacting the board, not aired up. When it is aired up it doesn't leak, but doesn't fire.

I've heard of the clip getting magnetized and affecting the armature.

Hmmm hadn't thought of that, but tried 2 different ones and same results. Both work on other boards .

If by cap you mean capacitor, then probably yes.

Yes, sorry... I'm used to short forms.

By cap most mean capacitor, all solenoid draw quite a lot of current (at least a half amp), mechanical ones even more so. The board should have a decent sized electrolytic capacitor. Check that it is not ruptured, domed, or leaky. This is a common issue on well used or older stuff as electrolytics have **** lifespan compared to other components, often 2 orders of magnitude. Electrolytics also tend to become a low resistance or short when they fail.

The crimps of wires at the connector as well as pinched wires are also common culprits.
