Just got a sterling. needs some tlc. I need all new orings. Could someone PLEASE tell me the actual sizes of all original sterling orings (no guesses please)? Also on the exhaust pin the cup seal was no good, it's completely gone. Im not sure if that can take a super small oring there, or what they actually used to seal it. Can I re-seal it some how?? If anyone could shed light on that too, i would appreciate it.
Thanks in advance!
well, my calipers say that the ID of the o-ring should be .50" and the OD should be between .670 and .685 according to the bolt in my green sterling, which needs new o-rings as well.
Bolt orings are size 111/70
search the forum. I've asked about it in the past as well. You should be able to find most of what you need.
My valve o-rings are fine so I didn't feel the need to take the measurements on the valve body. Sorry.
The o-rings on the bolt and valve guide are 015 o-rings with a 9/16th inch diameter. The o-rings on the barrel and the back of the valve guide are 014 at ½ inch diameter.
I'm checking with them to see if the older sterlings have different sized orings. The specs listed above are for STP and Bronze for sure.
cool. With exact sizes we could get short to put an sterling rebuild kit together.
However, I do believe the older sterlings have different o-rings sizes than the newer ones. At least the bolt o-rings on my old bronze are different from my 2k stp. Both are sterling threaded.
My Sterling is from '89-'90 from the original owner. The bolt I know have -015s on the bolt. Im pretty damn sure the 2 outer valve orings are also -015. The valve body to valve chamber, I dont remember off hand. Nor do I remember the size of the small one that seals the rail & body. Below are pictures of my valve pin & body.
IF there are several people really wanting to know the exact size of orings in my sterling, let me know & I will break it down this week & make a chart.
mudder do you know which company made your sterling? I know there are some body measurment differences between proline and arrow precision sterlings.
