A little project sterling well, I love my sterling but I still need a few features not available, so here is the pick and progress so far, about 1/2 finished . -clamping feed neck(BartPart) -CCM 86 frame(still needs milled and a custom sear made for it) -CCM T handle pump and under cocking kit(still working on its smoothness and fit/look) Well that's the start of this project, going to be nice feeling when its done. Great shooter, British engineering, USA part, modified by a Canadian that lives in Kentucky . |
I look forward to seeing it without a cock-eyed pump handle :D |
don't drill it for eyes either LOL! can't wait to see a shooting vid |
Like I said its about 50% through "protoTyping" , the pump handle is a lot heavier then the stock one, and doesn't have the barrel to support the forward weight, I have a Idea and 2 plans to fix the stumpy pump . I will take a shooting video when its done. So far I really do like the feel of the 86 frame on its, and the under hung pump on it. Its a work in progress. Bart |
I do like the 86 frame. |
All you need to put a Cocker frame on a Sterling is a different sear? Wow I thought it would be a lot more complicated than that for some reason.. |

Nope, not using a cocker sear, cutting it from a chunck of metal. Yes the AT will still work like it dose in the sterling frame. I should hopefully(fingers crossed) next time i am in the shop cut the sear . Things that still need done: - Chop and channel the back of the frame so it looks like its supposed to be there - Cut the sear test it , and re cut it as needed -Figure out the air line(either front of the frame again , or air through frame) - finish the hanger on the front for the guide rod Its coming along pretty good, I don't get a lot of time with haveing to chase the 3 kids around the house and what not, but next time I go out I am hopping ot get to the 75% mark. I am then either going to see if I can afford to anodize this one or sell it off and buuld another. Bart |
Okay got a little more time in the shop this afternoon between kids stuff and birthday parties. So Got the stock sear working with Auto trigger in the 86 frame with the stock 86 trigger plate. It was actually kinda nice too. Next week I think I have a hole day scheduled (I have to pay the baby sitter weather or not she takes the kids) so I hope to get this project ready to shoot at that point, Have a few small things to finish up. Hope none of the kids get sick. Bart |
Its really coming along good now , Got the rest of the pump hang rounded out, the frame chopped at the back so it fits the body and rail better. Also started to work on getting the vertical asa and the hard line re-installed on the frame. It feels a little diffrent then a stock sterling with it under hung, more comfortable. Still need to smooth the pump stroke some more. Also may have to make a delron venture bolt for it just because I can .
