Proud Paintball Addict !! | Repainting A5 shells
I need to repaint some A5 shells, and I have just finished sandblasting the old paint off (very fine sand, my work has a small parts sandblaster station) - I have some 'krinkle' valve cover paint (black), but need to know what would be the best primer for the shells. I still plan on washing and rinsing them 2-3 more times just to play it safe, then let air dry to room temp for a few days. Has anyone done this before or recently? Any help much appreciated ! It's been so long since I had to do this I can't remember what I used the last time I prepped shells for repainting. Also, if anyone has any better paint recommendations, I would love to know. Going back with flat black. THANKS ! --TAG--

I just did a alpha black, used whatever primer was for the brand I was using. The real work is in the prep and it sounds like you have a good handle on that

Thx was just wondering if there was a "better" or "best" primer to use on the type of metal that made the shells.

Acid etching primer. You want to use it right after blasting and degreasing. Aluminum starts oxidizing the moment raw meterial is exposed to air.

My work has a small parts sandblasting station - I used very fine grade sand media.
