Ultimate Woodsball League
The Ultimate Woodsball League | #1 Woodsball Tournaments
Have any MCB members played in this series? Can anyone offer advice to someone that wants to? The events seem very spread out and I'd love to get something similar started in my area.
Thoughts in general? I think it would be awesome to see this sort of series really take off. I'm actually a little surprised there isn't more talk of it here. It appears that Tom Cole runs the series and banned a player a couple of years ago for cheating. I think that's pretty awesome.

The UWL is rather cost prohibitive for most on this forum, that's why we see little talk about it here. It's been around for a few years. The Master Blasters travel to play most of the events, and I believe have won most of them they have attended. I like the concept of competetive woodsball, but I am not a fan of the cost or the rules like player "roles".

Entry for UWL is not bad. 800 for a 10 man team. I am used to paying 3-400 for 5 man tourney ball, pretty much the norm I have seen on the west coast.
What is complicated about the roles? Team captain is just the refs point of contact and coin tosser. Scout is allowed to leave 5 seconds before everyone else. Heavy gunner is one player designated to fire uncapped while everyone else is 10bps semi. Seems pretty simple to me. Since the object is to cap and hold flags it encourages some strategy.

I've played the UWL about 3 full years now.
It's the funnest events I've ever played. Period.
The multiple roles are just for tabulating points for each position's event/year-end placing.
There's money and good prizes.
They all serve the same purpose on the field except the scout who gets a 10 second head start.
The multiple flag stations and "ownership" points make all the difference.
Team work is highly stressed!
You get nothing for kills.
My team, the Dirtbags ,out of Sacramento have won multiple 10-Man events shooting a grand total of 7-8 cases of paint through an entire event.

I can say of playing a 5 man UWL formatted event I was more tired then I had ever been after a day of play. There is a lot of strategy evolved. Teamwork is really important. Kills don't mean much, all about holding those points.

I've been trying forever to get my team motivated to play a UWL. I just moved to California from New England, and as soon as I do, they announced a Boston UWL event...ugh lol.
