BretG's VM permanent solution detent

I've been working on a permanent mechanical replacement for the fingers detent used on the VM. I created a prototype two years ago that I tested during last season. The concept is a device that is moved upward by the forward motion of the bolt and falls back in place when the bolt retracts.
The initial version is a non-flexible piece in the same basic shape as the originals but with slotted holes so that the rear finger contacts the moving bolt and lifts the detent up, releasing the ball as the bolt contacts it.
Plastic and polycarbonate did not work for this. The fingers sheared off.
I went with BRASS and it worked. The brass has weight that allows gravity to drop the fingers back down as the bolt retracts. I assisted this movement I used a rubber band as occasionally it double fed. I demonstrated the brass fingered VM at last years Cold Arse Game at Robinhood Paintball and I was very happy with the performance. There was minimal wear on the bolt, but in time, I'm sure that it would.

Brass detent and a bolt.

This year I was prepping the VM for the next CAG and I gave this another look to reduce wear and this is the solution that may be the answer-
a pivoting PLASTIC detent. A V shaped plate that moves the forward finger up out of the way as the bolt moves forward.

A spring is used to return the finger to the down position.

View through the feed neck.

This may not be the final version, but I've cycled it enough to be very pleased with the function. No wear or double feeds.

That's awesome! If you don't start making those I'm going to have to shamelessly copy a few.

I give it to the VM Empire.
I gave a lot of thought to producing a laser cut stainless version, but I would have to have more made than would ever sell.
