3d printed 10 round gauntlet dispensers

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/39432893406...%26meid%3Daec5

Not me! But I figure why not give this dude’s product some free promotion, I’m all for these sorts of neat applications of 3d printing in the sport.

These seem like they’d be fun for “civil war” type games, or for hand loading FSRs. Big Assassin’s Creed vibes. I bought two, will report back on how they work.

Btw, in the colors section he mentions being able to print them in red, black, grey, and white, but also to ask about availability of other colors if you’d like something different—I did and he’s going to make mine in olive green and black.

Anyway just came across during one of my mindless doomscrolling sessions and thought the MCB fam might dig~

Curious to see how well they work, definitely something that would be fun for single shot doodling

I see this and I think about reversing the operation. Connect it to a force feed hopper and use it to fill tubes.

I play with a slingshot sometimes and this looks perfect. Will try to update once it comes in and I’ve tried it out.

They’re fine, I think my ideas were a little too grandiose for them. Biggest issue is the 10 rounder has nothing to hold it in place, so it can fall out if you raise your arm. But I think that could probably be fixed fairly easily. Would I rely on these in a game? Nah, probably not. Could they be used for a fun novelty or a themed game? Sure.

Definitely agree with procarbie. The inner diameter of the feed is just a touch tight and won’t accept the 10 round, so it falls out super easy. Not sure if the designer just had smaller 10 rounds to build from, but I’m going to try to shave it down.

Second problem is how easy it is to dispense more than one ball. Not sure of a solution just yet, but right now I’m getting 3-5 each time unless I’m trying really really hard and have my hand slightly raised.

Last potential issue would be durability of the hinge. Being plastic I don’t foresee much forgiveness if the arm saw some left or right force.

All that being said, it feels great on the arm, the lever placement is at a natural spot, and it’s such a fun concept. Also already seems to help speed up slingshot reloads. A few tweaks and it would be golden. Will probably be a while until I actually get a chance to play with it, but I’ll update if I’m able to modify it.

Yeah I was a little let down on dispensing mechanism, it’s just a little piece of plastic that makes contact with the paintballs, which makes it super touchy and at times it was failing to retain the paintballs on one of mine (the other one was fine so I’ll just chalk that up to a defect). I think a lot could be fixed by extending that interior plastic retaining piece, so it dispenses individual paintballs easier and holds back the rest more securely.

One fun thing about these is they allow you to dispense 10 paintballs into your palm immediately—I feel I will be remiss if I don’t at least attempt to POCKET SAND an opponent from close range at least once lol

I had been working on a "pez dispenser" concept awhile back... it never made it to the actual printing and test phase though.
This is such a cool idea, and I really like the wrist dispensing part. The more-than-one ball rollout should be easy to fix if a 2nd lobe is added to the arm inside the ball channel, and move the pivot point between the two lobes. I'm psyched to see what you come up with!

The Untangleworks dude also made a STL for a 10 round tube dispensing attachment, they look to be perhaps a little better constructed?

———————————————————————————————now is there a official site to buy UNW products thanks to a collaboration with AK paintball shop https://www.akpaintballshop....

If anyone is ever thinking about commissioning someone with a 3D printer for a run of these, let me know! I would pitch in (and throw him a donation as well for all his awesome contributions).

EDIT: This actually gives me a really cool slingshot idea, basically you could make a custom handle for one that would fit one of these tubes vertically with the dispenser pointing downwards, and then to reload you’d actuate the lever with a finger to drop a paintball right into the palm of your other hand. Could be mounted in the center of the handle and actuated by your pinky, or you could rig up some sort of a trigger system for your index finger (that would be super cool). Would also work well for an Airow bow.

Very cool, I like the concept you’re headed with. Loader integrated into the slingshot itself would probably feel better.
