I just want to comment in this thread so I get updates. I really want one of these even though I have absolutely no need for it. These are looking amazing.

Prepping parts for anodizing, found that a pipe cleaner in a high speed drill works great for the inside bores.

you should definitely get a burr hone (FlexHone [tm] )if you don't already have one.

Thanks for the recommendation. I looked in to an abrasive bore brush and similar bits if this didn’t work out. But a little polishing rouge on the bristles really left the inside clean and smooth.

Got the eye covers machined and serial numbers done. Don’t mind the polishing compound, still some more to do.

Unfortunately the anno on the first test body has to be redone and I need to mess with dwell/pressures…but it cycles without leaks. It feels really comfortable with tank and loader etc.

Beautiful. What happened with the ano. From just that she looks good.

What we think happened is the hot bath, soap, and deox didn’t quite get all the polishing compound off in the crevices. So those areas the aluminum didn’t take the anno dye.

A bummer but the positive is most of the parts have never been stripped before (they were raw). So should be okay for a re-anno with tolerances in mind.

It’s alive! Need to modify the eye wiring tomorrow at work but it’s close.

Looking great. I do like how that black and raw combo came out.

Thanks, yeah I’m happy how everything turned out. I just need to trim the bolts and make some new bolt pins.

Those look great. Have you been able to play with one yet, or just testing?

Just backyard testing. From Nov to Feb I don’t make it to the field much at all.

That black/raw acid wash is gorgeous.

Any new updates. Are you guys taking on additional bodies to mill?

We changed the design so the eye wiring & covers are more profiled along the sides of the body. The 2 blanks I had left should be finished in the next couple weeks with the new design (1 smooth milled, 1 ribbed like the previous run).

Once we’re happy with the programming I’ll make a post offering to mill blanks.

That is awesome, ribbed for my pleasure.

Ran a smooth version, I think it will look clean anodized & assembled.

Polishing is not my favorite activity.
