    Poo mans CVO

Well I read the rules and I believe I make poo-rameters. This is a current build only started on December 11. So my aim with this build is to make a poor mans Shocker CVO. We all know that Ions were pretty craptastic a decade and a half ago when they were steaming hot off the assembly line so I hope its poo-y enough for the judges. I basically started right in the parts bin to assemble a complete Ion to start with which through a series of bad decisions I ended up with 4 working Ions already. I was basically thinking that they are so unreliable that I should have 2 each for myself and my girlfriend, so we always have a backup.

So my idea is to make this mechanical with a single trigger. I found a Dye LCD frame on Ebay for cheap. The only downfall being that it had no pin for the trigger. No worries i used the stock one from the Ion grip, but I had to drill the hole out so it would fit. Then I sawed the grip off the frame, filed it flat and drilled a few holes to mount it and to gain access to the rear banjo fitting without taking the grip frame off. So essentially it's one bolt, one fitting and then I can spin the back half of the can off for easy bolt access, like semi BOB design.

So with my design, I still needed a spacer in between the frame and the body, so I started hacking down a stock body. I like how it looks with no body at all, but I need something to hold my detents in place so this is what I came up with so far.

I got the 3 way mounted in the frame now. I like where this is going.

    $69.19 for SSC mech kit
    $34.95 for Dye grip frame
    $10 for banjo fittings
    $2.95 grips
    $1.95 for red macro line
$5.31 for a metal regulator grip

    Current total:
    $124.35

The feedneck counts as a parts bin I think. I didnt buy it specifically for this build, actually bought it for my main but the feedneck is so low that it doesn't fit on any of my Ion bodies it was literally just sitting in the pile. If it's deemed unworthy I'll take it back off.

I’m seriously considering copying this build.

Aired up and tested. I gotta replace an oring inside its leaking down the barrel but otherwise I love the trigger pull on this. Can't wait to use it. Now that I have everything test fit, I can start doing the fine detail work and shine this turd right up

It is amazing. Very crisp and responsive and the frame is really comfortable

So since I've pretty much spent all the money I can, now all I have is time. So I started polishing the turd. Added photos to the album above. Sorry I suck with uploading photos here and the album is all out of order

I started filing the body down for finish. That rubber on there is holding on tight. I hope I can get that off of there, otherwise I'm going to have to cut up another body and do things a little different. I still have 2 more bodies in the bin. If I had some good woodworking tools I wondered the idea of a wooden body. I still have until February so anything could happen I guess

I'm thinking of cutting that overhang off of the grip, what do you guys think? Chop it or let it ride? I would cut it right behind where it says Dye on the same angle as the frame above it

It would be cleaner if you chopped off the overhang, so I say go for it!

This is all great inspiration for the 2 Mech Ions I'm waiting on the parts from Clippard. Great work, so far!

You can also use a mag rail instead of cuting a ion frame.
Here are my two mech Ion built by Jordan from parts I had around

And I think this another one Jordan build with a green angel frame and currently owned by Rainmaker. It was at walzmas last year.

Yeah I would if it was in the budget for the contest. It was free to cut the ion grip down. I might chop a little more off of it to slim the profile down. I want this to be a head turner

I love the custom detent covers you got there. I might have to make some and just make a body spacer. I was looking for the fireball mountain snatch but I can't find one. I knew I should have bought that one on ebay a month ago

              You mean this one?

And God turned to Gabriel and said: “I shall create a land called Canada of outstanding natural beauty, with majestic mountains soaring with eagles, sparkling lakes abundant with bass and trout, forests full of elk and moose, and rivers stocked with salmon. I shall make the land rich in oil so the inhabitants prosper and call them Canadians, and they shall be praised as the friendliest of all people.”

“But Lord,” asked Gabriel, “Is this not too generous to these Canadians?”

And God replied, “Just wait and see the neighbors I shall inflict upon them."

Yep, that's the one I've got. Love it!!! It might actually be my current favorite marker.

Added more photos to the album above. Made a final chop on the body, but I'm not sure if I like it. Might start fresh on another body, or maybe just make a spacer out of something else. I wish I had good tools I'm literally doing all this with a hacksaw and files and a drill. Poo tools

The more I cut off, the more I want to cut off. I think I'm going to keep going deeper and then move the grip frame forward more. I cut off the excess metal behind the gauge and now it looks like poop. I think over all it would be better to move the grip forward almost an inch. It would bring it all together so much better

And another big update I think I got my rail where I want it. So here's the final mockup. More photos in the album. Now just gotta smooth everything out, make some grips, and finalize.
