The Gorilla Question… 100 humans vs 1 gorilla - who wins?

Alright, I’ve seen a lot of the 100 humans vs 1 gorilla question today - Where does MCB stand on this key issue?

Personally I think there is no way the humans are winning this fight if no tools/weapons are allowed - and that’s assuming the humans had the dedication and fortitude to even keep up the fight instead of running for it after watching a few dozen people getting absolutely wrecked.

Maybe if we offer a big enough reward we can get 100 volunteers to scientifically test this out Roman Colosseum style.

I’m team human 100%. I’m going straight for the eyes.
Depends on the group though, if it’s 100 men fighting for a cause like defending something by winning this challenge, I don’t think the gorillas cardio would hold up to waves of ten at a time. If it’s a random 100 people that just wake up jigsaw style in the challenge I don’t like the odds as much though.

I haven’t heard any talk about this I don’t do any social apps so thanks for
    that one haha fun question.

I am split. I feel like the gorilla would grab the first person close enough to it, bite into its neck removing the head with pure strength combined with those chompers and then beat the brakes off the next few dudes with the lifeless corpse of the first fool. Just watch a few videos of Silverbacks fighting over mating rights. Then look at a room full of average dudes. I have the pleasure of seeing 100 or so people do team meetings almost every day and I feel like most of these dudes would crap their pants seeing all the above go down. Then think about 100 proper warriors such as ancient Spartans, maybe the Zulu warriors hopped up on mushroom/cannabis snuff, maybe proper warriors might stand a chance. I feel like it would require everyone dogpiled onto the ape, but then what? Maybe it ends in a draw.

100 people? Why so many? - Rolls up sleeves - You only need one. I've got this.

Don't know why everyone is so concerned... Its just a 6 week old gorilla in diapers.

There's no questioning the strength of a gorilla but the cardio take is interesting. I think if the Gorilla was out to kill, as much as the humans were it would be gorilla 100%
This is going to sound morbid, but have you ever played with children who are climbing all over you? You get worn down from them, but only because your goal is not to disable them is quickly as possible. That's essentially the same deal as gorillas vs humans.

To be fair I think the humans and gorilla involved have to be roughly the equivalent percentile of physical fitness in their species.

So if it’s an “average” gorilla then it’s against 100 average Joes. (Maybe selected jury duty style?)

If this is 100 MMA fighters or trained military in the top 1% of human physical fitness then they have to go up against some shredded beast of a gorilla.

And for this to work I think we have to assume the gorilla has anger issues and has a personal vendetta against every human present.

the only thing that would make the big difference is the fact that humans can regulate body temperature more efficiently compared to animals. Persistence hunting has been practiced since before the invention of agriculture to the point its being used even today. so even with 100 average joes the time frame would probably cause then gorilla to over heat.

            Some google averages:
African gorilla can lift 1700+ lbs
            Average African human weight: 133lbs
So 100 average local humans, not even gender specific, weighs about 13,330 lbs.

Dog pile the gorilla and its game over. Definitely going to be some collateral damage, but even those unfortunate souls still weigh the same. I can't think of an animal out there that will be able to expand its lungs with almost 7 tons sitting on it.

Motivating 100 fools to jump on a peeved gorilla is the real trick. Maybe some kind of Squid Game...

My response was along the same lines.. a 100 humans worth of blood would drown the gorilla

Gorilllas are actually pretty passive. And intelligent. You couple that with a massive number of other aggressive primates, one would recognize the potential risk of life or injury and retreat. As long as the humans were committed to the attack, chalk one up for us

Gorilla. The sheer strength, the primal rage, and the teeth. Jesus Christ no one has ever brought up the teeth. A single bite puts you out of the fight no matter where it is. Then the fists and the weight. I'm taking the gorilla.

How about three men vs an entire pride of lions. I saw a clip of this battle, and the cats ran away. Primitive man has killed wooly mammoths and the like for millennia in small groups of 5 to 20. We are persistence hunters, that have had this very battle since coming down from the trees. Easy dub for the peeps.

They killed the mammoths by chasing them off cliffs. Big animals don’t stop quick. They also had tools.

People started hunting before tools. And cliffs aren't prevelent enough for that theory to have been common. Persistence hunters chase until the animal collapses and dies. We have the ability to shed heat better than nearly any animal.

Humans 100% they win by numbers and stamina. While powerful a silverback will tire quickly especially overwhelmed by the numbers. Setting would change dynamics of the fight. Can the silverback run evade, or funnel concentrate destruction 300 style? Does it have the cognitive ability to even put that play into action or will it just smash until it can’t smash anymore.

                      Chatgpt says

In a fight between 100 unarmed men who do not fear death and a grown male silverback gorilla, the men would almost certainly win, but at a very high cost.
                      Here’s the breakdown:
                      Silverback Gorilla Stats:
                      • Weight: 300–400 lbs (136–181 kg)
                      • Strength: Up to 10 times stronger than a human
                      • Speed: Surprisingly fast, up to 20–25 mph
                      • Bite force: 1,300 PSI
                      • Intelligence: High for an animal, good tactical instincts
                      • Ferocity: Extremely dangerous when provoked
                      100 Men (Unarmed, No Fear):
                      • Average human male weight: ~150–200 lbs
                      • Total combined mass: 15,000–20,000 lbs
                      • Total combined strength: Easily overwhelms the gorilla in numbers
                      • No fear of death: They won’t flee or hesitate, which nullifies the gorilla’s intimidation advantage
                      Battle Dynamics:
                      • The gorilla could easily kill or maim dozens of men in the initial charge with sheer power.
                      • He could rip off limbs, crush skulls, and cause panic if fear were a factor—but in this case, the men are fearless.
                      • Eventually, through sheer numbers and persistence, the men could pin, choke, and bludgeon the gorilla to death using their body weight and teamwork
                      Outcome:
                      • Winner: The 100 unarmed, fearless men.
                      • Casualties: Likely 20–50+ dead or critically injured, depending on strategy and terrain.
                      • Time to victory: Likely 2–10 minutes of brutal combat.
                      Edit

Lol I ask the same scenario but added the gorilla can use the dead bodies as a weapon. Gorilla still lose but the number of dead males with be between 60-70+ 😅
