This thread is so convincing to try some malort. I’ve never had it, but very interested on whose taste description I’ll land on when I eventually do.WTB Acid Wash Phantom Parts

Your hibiscus masses yearning to brass wield,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the hungry, stock-classy to thy field,
I lift my lamp alongside Velcor!”

Brian, I believe you have put this in the wrong section of the forum.
This section is Named "Bacon and other Good Eats"
Malort is neither bacon or good eats.
The closest section might be "Bug Report" because if you are someone who really does like Malort there is something noticeably wrong with you and it cant be fixed.

It’s not that bad just has a bitter aftertaste that lingers. Probably would match well with something sweet. But for the unsuspecting it’s a “Surprise MF in your mouth”!

People just doing shots of it gives it a bad rap. It's no worse than a heavily peated Scotch or a copper distilled Mezcal.
Malort is a fun spirit to use in cocktails. It is very unique in what it can bring.

My go to when people ask to try Malört is a Hard Sell cocktail.
Equal parts: Dry Gin, Malört, and St Germain,
Quarter part simple(can be omitted if you're down with bitter).
You get a nice rounded botanical cocktail with a bitter under tone.
I've also had decent success with substituting Malört into cocktails calling for Campari. For example in a Negroni or any of its variants you get a darker more bitter and complex cocktail. Your mileage may vary.
Another thing to know for those that haven't bought a bottle of Jeppson's Malört in a few years, it changed hands in 2019 and the recipe has been altered. It's a much cleaner tasting spirit now with less of that lingering chemical burn.
