    Broke fill nipple

Well, I was swapping regs between tanks... and the fill nipple gave out. It broke flush with the reg body, so the tip is now sitting on my bench and the threaded base is still inside the port.

Any tips to get the threaded bottom part out of the reg?

I’d try one of those bolt extractor things from Home Depot.

Ez-out extractor should work, might be kind of funky drilling it with the check valve if that didn't come out.

I assume this is an NPT nipple and not one of the newer Ninja ones? Something that worked well for me was beginning to tap the broken part for 1/8NPT and it pulled it out when I backed the tap off. I would probably try an EZ out first though.

            Newer Ninja

The guts dropped out when it broke. Would like to save this reg, it's less than 2 years old

Now that I think about it, tapping the hole in the broken off piece would work even better since they're straight threads. Just start tapping the hole the next size up than would be appropriate. A tapered tap should wedge itself in and the broken piece comes out when you back it off.

But again I would still try the ez out first.

If your going to tap it... consider using a left handed tap/screw.

Sounds like a plan. Bolt extractor purchase coming up!

I would ask ninja if that is something they would take care of. If not then i would go the extractor route. I will say though you need to be careful with those extractors and what they are biting on.

I’ve had some success lightly hammering a flat head screw driver or small chisel to turn the stuck fill nipple into a flat head screw. Also go slow with the extractor bits. They tend to walk and chew up indiscriminately anything that they touch.

I second the return to manufacturer.

Extractor worked. Valve is back in the fight!
