If MCB entered a team in the 2022 Ontario Classic ...

This is a purely hypothetical, for fun question.....so no “ i’m too old, i’m too slow” rhetoric killing my thread !

If MCB put together a team for the Ontario Classic mech tourney next year, what gun would you bring as your main? And as your backup?

For me, I think my fastest , lightest mech gun is my Trilogy SF with the shocktech slider frame. I’d run my VL Revvy with a speedfeed, my 14” Freak barrel, and my 48/4500 tank.

For my backup, i’d have my 96 RF mini cocker, because it’s oh, so reliable! It’s just a bit heavy when all loaded up.

So go ahead, pretend you’re still young and fast, and lemme hear your mech tourney setups!
'96 RF Mini Cocker, '95 RF Autococker, 68-Automag Classic, Banzai Splash Minimag, Gen-E Matrix, Shoebox Shocker 4x4, Montneel Z-1, Tippmann Pro-Carbine, Tippmann Mini-Lite, Tippmann Model-98, Tippmann 68-Special, Spyder .50 cal Opus/Opus-A , Tippmann .50 Cal Cronus , Gog Enmey .50 cal , Tippmann Vert ASA 68-Carbine, Bob Long Millennium, ICD Grey Green Marble Splash Alleycat Deluxe (runs liquid co2) , Halfblock 2K4 Prostock Autococker , 2K RF Sniper II

My Classic Mag with capped valve, I think. 12V Revvy, 50ci tank, J&J Ceramic barrel.
And God turned to Gabriel and said: “I shall create a land called Canada of outstanding natural beauty, with majestic mountains soaring with eagles, sparkling lakes abundant with bass and trout, forests full of elk and moose, and rivers stocked with salmon. I shall make the land rich in oil so the inhabitants prosper and call them Canadians, and they shall be praised as the friendliest of all people.”

“But Lord,” asked Gabriel, “Is this not too generous to these Canadians?”

And God replied, “Just wait and see the neighbors I shall inflict upon them."

I need to find an A5 foregrip so I can do that to mine... it's slick!

      paintballgear.ca has one.

I like the Lapco version better though . That's what I used on my Montneel

If you're serious about it, I genuinely want to play this.

For me it would be the Mag and the Fokus as a backup, although I would want to splurge a little on an on/off and reg for it.

Probably my mag as primary and my Warp adapted MG100 as backup. In typical MCB fashion however, none of my stuff is ready for play. My mag has no ASA and none of my tanks are big enough for the volume of fire these things demand.

I've never actually played a tournament either. I'd be down to play some sort of friendly local thing though.

Idk if id go with my 98 rf cocker or my trilogy comp as my main. My raptor ltd 2000 would be my back up. That thing is so consistent even with egg shaped paint. It will feed and not chop or barrel break and its still pretty damn accurate. Had a blast using it last Saturday for open play.

68/4500 and revvys to go with them. Except for the 98 rf with its dynaflow mounted 90ci

Hypothetical or not this sounds FUN. Never done tourney and I’m afraid I’m a bit too limited physically to attempt it. But I be damned if it don’t sound like a boat load of fun to try.

If anyone is serious, I will start piling away funds for it. It's been a decade since I played a tournament, and I've been interested in the mech tournaments since the ICC started.

A guy on reddit said he spent about $200 to play the 10 man. Said he only bought on case of paint, so he's doing better than I did at Wasaga.

I do have a Hurricane and Blazer to use, if we needed more autococking equipment... 🙂

If Ultimate proved anything, the Hurc would be a great distraction.

I think there is a special rule, that if any player runs a PPS Hurricane , their team automatically wins the tournament !

I think the first and only attempt I've made at a tournament was about 20 years ago - what's (hypothetically) involved in the Classic?

Playing a mech tourney has been on my bucket list since coming back to the game!

Hypothetically, what would be involved to make this happen? Hmmmm.....if Adrenaline runs the 5-man tourney format again, that might make sense, considering our current Ontario MCB numbers.

Maybe we recruit for 10 players , 5 to play at any given time, 5 as subs for fresh legs , or for injuries, and we just rotate players into the games throughout the day?

I think a big barrier is cost, the team entry fee split over 10 is probably not too bad, but the paint !? I don't know how many cases would be needed for a mech tourney like this?

If anyone reading this thread with mech tourney experience and knows the costs involved could chime in, that'd be great!

I’d be in I think a 10 man team with perhaps 13 players to have some to spare out others. Would be ideal. If prices are same as this year and with projection of not making it too far I suspect 2 cases each be more than enuff.

So total cost for each player be ruffly $250ish that’s doable I think. Count me in if we want make this happen.

For something memorable like this event could be, $250 seems reasonable to me!

If you dont mind getting run over by some D3 and D4 samdbaggers on a team with a few unranked players on their roster, then the classic is for you!

I was there for a bit cheering on Dementia and getting my cocker back from their tech. I watched Iron Lungs (team with mostly RC Seadogs) steamroll everyone with their M170rs and mech Amps, those things are FAST! The rest of the teams were just there for fun and the mounds field is a ton of fun. The guy who tech'd my cocker even used his VM68 for a point.

If we played 2022, I'd go with my VF Tactical, Tac One and Emek
