Ontario Machinists: A Small Job for You!

Hello, I've been doing mods to make my Tippmann 98 LP for about a year now, and I think I'm nearly there.

One of the mods I did was drilling out the valve seat for more air to pass through. Unfortunately in doing this, I lost the thin sealing lip on it (the raised part on the brass piece below).

All I would like done is to get this lip remade on the seat. I assume you'd just need to give it a small spin on a lathe around the outside until there is only a tiny lip, but I'm not sure.

How'd you make out with getting a seat re-machined? I've got a handful of valves that could be gutted for a seat. Never got into LP mods, but would like to ask,is the slightly larger opening than stock that relevant?. Either way if you need a couple of seats, give me a buzz and we'll go from there.

I never ended up getting this done. I was hoping to reach out to someone local and had some sort of home/private machine shop so I didn't have to pay some blanket shop fee for something that could be done in >5minutes with a lathe. Wasn't able to find anyone. I've lost interest lately as I've a) bought a couple higher end guns that far outperform anything this will ever do and b) become somewhat disillusioned with local fields.

Anyway as for how relevant this is I'm not sure. From other people I have spoken to, it does seem to be something that has proved to be a missing link. I've done everything else the LP kit does (volume, springing, lightened hammer, opened up valve passages, etc.) But am still getting low velocities when it is able to recock (still fairly high pressure).

As for sourcing seats I'm fine thanks. Unless they are the proper LP ones (or a full LP kit) for a decent price.
