And just found out something pretty funny about the mask bags. The Grill fits perfectly in the nice bag…

The Profiler 2? Not at all. I cannot actually even put the mask in the bag:

Not a big deal though, as the bag is pretty cheap
and I would replace with with a better
goggle bag as I have a ton of them. Just kind of funny/sad that the provided bag doesn’t actually fit the mask it came with!

Nice write up. How would you compare the fit of the orignal Profiler to the 2.0? For me, the original sits too closely to my face and leaves something to be desired in the coverage department.

I’m going to compare the two head to head once I have time. Coming from my Push Unite, the Profiler 2 has much better coverage and sits further off my face. I haven’t worn an original Profiler in quite a while though.

Thanks for the review! I picked up a Grill 2 for dirt cheap and my only real complaint is the acoustics, I feel like I get a ton of echo in them.

The Profiler 2 looks interesting, but I doubt I will pick one up as I have VIOs coming out the wazoo.

Given how much people seemed to dislike the Grill 2 I’ve been pleasantly surprised so far. But in fairness that’s just a first impression.

Continuing today be spending some time wearing the mask. Just spent 20 minutes wearing the Grill 2 around the house, much the entertainment of my kids

      Observations:
      1) I thought my ears would get sore as the mask seemed to have a little pressure on them. This was not an issue at all my ears were fine.

      2) Vision is tight. The side vision is fairly good, but the front middle vision is interrupted by the lip of the visor. Likely not an issue in a game, unless people you play with multi-story buildings or large hills. Peripheral vision is generally good.

      3) The is a good amount of space between the mask and my face, enough that I can scratch my nose without the mask moving or lifting off my face. Also means a shot to the mask won’t leave me with any marks to my face (I’m looking at you, Push Unite!).

      4) I can see the frames and nose section while looking through goggle, due to the small lens design. Not a big issue, but makes your field of view feel restricted.

      5) Foam around the nose is a little uncomfortable, but hopefully will loosen up with time. Just put a little pressure on the bridge of my nose.

      6) The only part I found uncomfortable was the plastic clips on the strap. They kind of dug I to my head. I usually wear a toque when playing, so would not be an issue under standard conditions.

      7) Lower blind spot. This was not something I’ve noticed wearing an original Grill, but was a question from someone on Reddit. As it turns out, there's approximately a 5 foot blind spot with the Grill 2. I set a small kid’s lap desk on the floor and move back until it came into views, while standing straight up looking forward. The distance it became viewable was just under 5 feet from where I was standing. Note this this distance varies depending on you variety of factors, but I’ll use it as a metric for comparing all these masks going forward.

        20 minutes in the Profiler:

        1) mask seems lighter. Is it? Don’t know yet, but I will weigh the masks later.

        2) view is significantly better than the Grill. The bigger lenses give a much wider field of view.

        3) lower blindspot: using the same test as with the Grill 2, the Profiler 2 has a significantly smaller lower blindspot spot of less than 3 feet.

        4) you can see the foam between the lenses at your nose, and see through edge section of the mask past that seem. It’s a little odd at first, but you get used to it and it just allows for more vision.

        5) The foam does not pinch my nose. The foam hits me on the cheeks, so there is little to no pressure on my nose.

        6) I don’t notice the visor in my vision.

        7) No pressure on my ears at all.

        8) The strap feels similar to the Grill 2, but was a head was a little tender from the Grill 2 strap still

        9) Echo seems less in Profiler 2.

        10) Can scratch my nose without moving my mask. So there is amble room in mask, similar to the Grill 2

So comparing the original to the Profiler 2 you can the masks are very similar shaped, owing to using the same lenses. Visibility is similar, but I have the dual pane lens in the Profiler 2 which I can see the foam layer, especially around the nose. The impact is minimal.

Weight-wise the mask feel similar. The original is a little
lighter, but only has a single pane lens.

Clearly the Profiler 2 has more venting in the front and side of the mouth region of the mask. The venting above the lens is largely the same, except for the visor mounts.

Will a Profiler 1 visor fit into the slots on a Profile 2? NVM! I see you answered this question in post #29. Thank you.

The foam on the original Profiler is also longer and extends beyond the mask strap and is continuous around the goggle. The Profiler 2 has two piece foam that ends at the strap clip.

The Profiler 2 sits a little taller than original Profiler, which means the mask will extend lower than the standard Profiler. Note the hight of the lens clips:

Click image for larger version Name:	IMG_3463.jpg Views:	0 Size:	2.75 MB ID:	688848

The soft ears also offer more protection and coverage than the original Profilers. I used piece of electrical tape
to show the difference in the coverage. It’s a little challenging to take a side profile picture of oneself.

I find there is a similar amount of room in the front of the masks. I can put my hand up between my face and the mask without issue, and it goes not pull the mask off my face at all. I cannot touch the mask while trout-pouting (sticking my lips) nor can it touch it with my tongue. I would not be worried about the mask slapping my face if shot in the mask. This is a concern with my Push Unites.

How compatible are the masks? Well the my use the same lenses, of course, but what else?

Lens Clips: Old clips do work on the Profiler 2 and appear to lock in place (use at your own risk!!!).

But the new clips do not work with the older Profilers. The Profiler 2 clips integrate into the the strap clip and prevents the clip from locking into place:

And straps are the opposite. The original Profiler strap will not work with the Profiler 2

The Profiler 2 strap will worth with the original Profiler though.

And if all that leaves the visor. Clearly the Profiler 2 visor does not work with the original Profiler as it uses pegs. You can however fit an original visor on the Profiler 2. It’s not perfect, but works!
