First Look: Profiler 2 Fighter Series - Rooster Red Red

Pop on some Alice in Chains Rooster and take a moment to looks at the new Profiler Fighter Series masks. These come in several colour options, Grey, Blue, Red. They have the popular “clear” plastic and bright coloured accents. This are a step above the typical Profiler 2 offering g the clear treatment, a custom strap and a fancier lens. I picked it up on Black Friday for $110, so was happy with the deal.

So let’s get on with the show!

I already had a black Profiler 2 so wanted to see what the difference was with the “Fighter” version. So besides the lens and strap it’s got a fancy box with aeroplanes on it!

Oh, and one more difference is the foam is different than my black Profiler 2. Don’t know if they just changed the colour, but the foam is darker and slightly firmer, maybe, than my other Profiler 2 mask.

Interesting that the foam is different. I've been eyeballing the grey/clear Slider one. Crom knows i don't need another mask, but i have fond memories of using the original Profiler many moons ago.

That was my pull as well. Loved the original Profilers. I’ve bounced around a few masks but the Profiler 2 was great when I wore it at a scenario. I really like getting back to the Profiler lens and the protection and comfort it offered.

So i did it. Got the grey one. Now for questions:
          • Does the mask feel tight? Strap fully loosened, it still borders on slightly uncomfortable. I do have a big head, though (hat size 7¾ -ish).
          • Do the soft ears... hurt? They feel stiff, and the venting cuts along the ear lobe area are, well, sharp. May pop the ears off to break them in by hand.
I like the look of my CMD & Proflexes more, but i like the nostalgia of the Profiler and the no-brainer mechanic of this particular lens system. Once i manage to break it in, it'll find a place in rotation.

nerdcore I didn’t find the soft ears rough I didn’t a toque when playing though. When I get a chance I’ll double check both my Profiler 2s. My head is likely not as big as yours so I didn’t find them too tight.

Fielded the Profiler 2, finally. Not sure what was going on when i first tried it on last month, but I wore it all day last Saturday with no issues. I actually had to tighten the strap. And even the ears felt fine.

The lens removal is so quick, it was unreal how hard the nostalgia hit. I remember it being easy on the original Profiler, but this seemed even easier. Maybe it's coming from the perspective of using Proflexes (and CMD) for the past several years. It's easier than the CMD and both are easier than the JT QLS.

The foam around the nose looks different than yours. There's a sort of indent on either side of the nose. Hard to describe. I'll take a pic of it.

Glad it was comfortable during play.

How was it? Do they echo as bad as the grill 2.0? How is breathing through them? I’ve gone through so many masks and keep coming back to the flex for those 2 reasons.

turpidporpoise i haven't used the Grill 2, but the Profiler 2 does have more echo than a flex. However, people on the field could still hear me, so it was ok. I didn't have problems breathing in them, but it wasn't a hot day (like high 40s to mid 50s F) and i wasn't pushing myself very hard.

The proflex design is such an outlier, imo, that i try not to compare everything to it. The spectra line-up is by far my fave, but i also crave variety.

Just played with my new profiler 2 a few weeks ago and i like it. I have been a profiler guy from “05” and they arent the best looking but they work great. I did perform some upgrades and will explain. The ventilation holes while plentiful , i noticed had excessive flash from molding. I cut out the excess with an xacto knife and i think its doubled its breath ability. Second, i dislike the ears on the profiler,so i cut slot’s vertical to the mask and fed in a custom jt strap. Now the strap is visible and runs over the top of the ears like a jt proflex. The new visor is ugly, well low and behild a jt visor will line up perfectly with the holes for the factory one. The visor will stay in place but the snap in is not the best. I will be adding o rings to the post bottoms ,like we did with the originals.all in all it works great,so great i didnt try out my new proflex that day. Proflex is pinching my nose and already not as good. I will add some pics later.

Awesome, glad you liked it as well! I did notice the flash from the molding and was considering doing the same thing. Agreed on the new visor as well, really sits up high too but I have a pile of JT visors I can use.

They are releasing birthstone masks like JT did as well. Some look pretty good.
