    Automag 12 Gram Tuning

So I've completed my pistol Mag build this afternoon. So far, it's shooting as well as I would expect an Automag to operate on 12 grams, getting about twenty good shots or so. So, my next question is, can it be made better? I believe de-volumizing the valve would be one possible way to do it, but from what I've read on AO, there's some controversy around that when it comes to the effect it has on paint. I suppose the question then becomes whether or not it's worth the effort.

The trick to keeping it clean is the CCM macro fittings. In order to remove the valve, I need to unscrew the screws that hold the fittings to their posts. Otherwise I’d need a much longer loop of line.

If your getting 20 good velocity shots leave it alone. The 3 12 gram pumpmags I've worked on all top out around 13 good shots. With devilimizing done.

Yes the short line will help with velocity as that's less lost co2

I get 25ish shots on my stockclass pump mag that was devolumized, If your getting 20 shots already, I would just leave her be. The norm from the majority of classic valves on 12 grams is between 6 - 13 shots. So I'd say you've got a good set up

I’m guessing the short macro line is contributing to efficiency somewhat. The fact that I need to rock the marker after each shot is likely helping as well by limiting ROF.

Was gonna say that as well. 20 shots is already really good. I have the devolumized valve and that's about what I could barely get.

Yeah, those last few lurk in hoses and such. Check valves help save a little of that between changes.

The problem with devolumizing is that it means you have to raise the chamber pressure. It's pushing your relief valve in the valve piston, as well as being harder on paint.

With a minimag barrel (short and over bored), you're lucky to get a weak shelled ball out without popping it in devolumized mag.

So it sounds like the Mag is as well tuned as it can be without sacrificing reliability. This matches up exactly with what I was reading on AO. In the grand scheme of things, I suppose twenty shots or so isn’t so bad. I get the same efficiency from my Tipx.
