    M170 bolt stick?

I know my way around poppit valves and have always assumed that anything else runs on some sort of magic.

I got a planet eclipse gun for the legendary reliability, and the first tournament I used it in it quit half way through the day and I went to my cocker.

The problem is depicted in the video below. Basically the gun will shoot a while like normal, then gets a weird bolt stick thing going on and it makes a little clicking noise. In the past I’ve been able to keep going by degassing and regassing the gun quickly, but it’s probably better to figure out what the actual problem is.

    anyone have any ideas?

here’s a video of it caught in the act.

Are your adjustment screws too close to the actuation point? make sure it has pre and post travel.

To me it looks like there is enough travel, definitely some wiggle room on each end of the pull.

While I was looking at the pre and post travel, I had a couple shots where it would do a kind of “click-SHOOT” on the same trigger pull, almost like it was actuating twice?

here’s another video of it quitting mid stream with focus on the trigger travel.

I might take you up on that haha. I hadn’t thought to actually check out the bolt, but I have the stock one in a drawer and a soft tip one in the gun. Maybe I’ll swap them and see if it helps.

For all the bad things people have to say about Smart Parts, the shocker worked every single time I took it out.

Have you completely disassembled everything, cleaned, inspected for bad o-rings, re-greased, and reassembled?

I went through and regreased, no orings really stood out as bad but if this keeps up I’m gonna put the rebuild kits they send with the gun to good use.

Well, for anyone who might have the same problem, it turned out to be linked to the soft tip bolt I was using.

        stock bolt worked fine

        brickhaus’s techt bolt worked fine

no clue why the soft tip one was causing problems, but now I recall the guy who sold it saying that the stock bolt was installed when I got it because he didn’t like the soft tip one.

Do you know if the soft tip bolt was from PE, or an aftermarket?
And God turned to Gabriel and said: “I shall create a land called Canada of outstanding natural beauty, with majestic mountains soaring with eagles, sparkling lakes abundant with bass and trout, forests full of elk and moose, and rivers stocked with salmon. I shall make the land rich in oil so the inhabitants prosper and call them Canadians, and they shall be praised as the friendliest of all people.”

“But Lord,” asked Gabriel, “Is this not too generous to these Canadians?”

And God replied, “Just wait and see the neighbors I shall inflict upon them."

Is probably just one of the oring on the soft tip bolt. But you’re better without it. M170R don’t have paint breakage issues.

Sell it to someone who thinks it’s an upgrade.

I like my Stanchy soft tip in my Gmek. 🤷

Weird that it would cause problems, but I'm glad you figured it out.

I’m not sure who the manufacturer is, but the orings are a definite possibility. I never swapped them to see if this bolt would work with new orings.

That is a Gama Core Super Soft Bolt made by Stanchy customs. Clean, replace the orings, and lube the bolt and see if that corrects the issue. Just looking at the condition of the bolt I would consider doing some maintenance on the mech valve in there as well. The only time my 170 gave me issues was when I didn't clean my mech valve for WAY too long.

                  Link to the bolt:

We have changed the airflow around the back of the bolt, as well as made our own tip! This will fit any and

Yeah, that's a Stanchy. I have one in my Gmek and it's never given me problems.
