    Ego marker

Been trying to find an ego for a while, but wondering whats the best year for them?

Best, LV2. LV 1.6 is nice and gets you the rebuildable solenoid. If you mean an older model then the 07 is when they made their first big leap IMO but if the solenoid goes you have a paperweight.

The LV platform are great newer the slightly better.

07-08 are probably my next favorite Ego (particularly the SL74 with the cure 4 bolt and LP valve LPR one turn in from flush.

09-10 were garbage even the SL versions I didn’t like.

11 with the Dart kit was a fantastic shooter. CSR was amazing it’s probably my favorite looking Ego to date as well. I had a Panther black/Gold with the carbon barrel kit it was spicy.

But the best is hands down the LV2 I don’t think there is much more you could do to the ego platform to make it any better. I doubt you will see any more other than some private label ones from PE. I think you will see PE focus on perfecting the spool valve design. Even those have come such a long way.

I agree 100% definitely the Best bang for the buck is for sure the 07-08 ego. Just got to insure the solenoid is good and the boards are good. Original parts can get pretty pricey. However there are aftermarket options. There are aftermarket reg piston seats as well if you need those. So it’s totally plausible to keep an 07-08 going for a long time. Things to watch for are aftermarket grips screw holes in the solenoid. Over tightening the upper grip screws can poke holes in the solenoid. QEV diagrams may need to be replaced if you air it up and it just chuffs but no leak. Leak from the LPR piston or pressure relief on the noid it’s probably an LPR piston reg seat. All super simple fixes and they are rock solid reliable I used my 08 for 10+ years of service playing Xball 3x a week for many years. It’s a great marker. If I were to get a used one I would replace the QEV diagrams check the LPR and HPR reg seats put a fresh name brand battery in it. If you do that it should give you many many years of maintenance free service.
