    Maryland / DMV

Just moved to Frederick MD from down south. Anyone know where FSR is allowed in this area? Either public or private groups? Looking for woodsball games. I looked in the regional forum and didn’t see anything.
Just out here trying to delay the old from taking me over.

Guessing NR Paintball in Taneytown does magfed games… but not for certain.

Southern MD Paintball is hosting a magfed only event coming up.

NRAP allows FSR at magfed and scenario events.
Also, if you come out on a day where enough of the hometeam, The Timberghosts, are there and playing in our own group, we will allow it. but be prepared to be singled out and headhunted by some brutal stock class players if you end up hurting anyone.

You can try some of the fields in Southern Pennsylvania like Wanna Play, Round Top, Lingelstown or Ambush. Alot of the fields are FPO. OXCC in Chesapeake City has magfed games. Some of these may be farther than you may wish to travel. I'm in Baltimore, so they are all about the same distance from my house.

Ok. Thanks. I called a few around Frederick and they didn’t allow FSR. Also, don’t want to drive 2-3 hours to find a course. I also play pump. I’ll check out P3.

Take $limbo advice and also try NRAP in Taneytown. It's closer to you and the Timberghosts are great guys to play with.

“End up hurting anyone”… Ive heard that a couple
times now from local fields. What’s the deal? I assumed FSR are limited to the same FPS as round ball right? I’ve actually never used them. Just bought an EMF100, and wanted to see what FSR are all about. If they’re more accurate, what’s the issue? Also never been tagged by one… so there’s that.

$L!mBo Did you see my last question? What’s the issue with FSR and “hurting someone”. I literally just got my first magfed EMF100, and always wanted to try those FSR rounds. Nobody had them where I came from.

casual.professional since FSR are composed of more solid material than a normal roundball, hits to the neck, throat, fingers, temples, forehead will feel a lot worse.
We often have players bring their young children and it can be hard to tell from a distance (increased by using fsr) who's who.
If somebody comes out and wants to shoot fsr and ends up hurting a little kid it wont be taken lightly.
If you have mags full of FSR, folks will be extra weary of getting hit more than once by you.
Obviously you want to have an advantage over everyone else shooting roundball, can you blame them for singling you out?
Folks out our way take pride in going after the speedball guys with old mechs and pumps and its still a very level,
fair playing field when you are all shooting the same distance and outmaneuvering someone "hiding behind bps".
FSR is seen as an unfair advantage by many and since they are so expensive, theres people that hate on them as "pay to win".
personally, i think relying on the range and accuracy advantage of fsr leads to boring play. if youre constantly hanging back and taking folks out who dont even know your there, theyre gunna be upset. it just more fun and interesting to get into mid/close range gunfights.
so, like i said, feel free to bring all that stuff out and come play with us but dont be surprised if you feel a little left out or "hunted" when nobody else is out there shooting anything besides roundball.

are you coming to Cousins/Skyline tomorrow for the pump day?
                  im super stoked!

The FSR hits harder at a given distance compared to a normal paintball, that alone will make them hurt (as in pain vice injury) worse. If you look into Elastic vs inelastic collisions, FSR break more readily than gelatin paintballs and allow their payload to spread laterally, partially offsetting the force directed into the body.

I don't think they are a good fit for pump play however, since pump play tends to be on the shorter range. That being said, it quickly becomes more costly for the FSR player if they cannot maintain their range/accuracy advantage (i.e. a snapshooting match).

Ahhhhhhh. Good points. Didn’t think about most of that. I guess, I’ve been playing since the mid 90’s, and the desire to go out to a field and stack bodies left me about 20 years ago. I would just use my Ego and Mini for that.

More interested in the tech than anything. Didn’t plan on carrying more than a few mags out to the field, and wouldn’t even use it unless the fields and games were bigger. With more experienced players.

Back in TN, I literally had a partner would run scenario games with. He threw the paint and acted like a decoy, and I worked different angles with a modified Phantom and MOAB barrel. It worked well. Our communication was dialed. I shot very limited amounts of paint. Trying to do the same thing with small 10 round mags of FSR.

Like I said. Not trying to piss anybody off. Just curious how accurate / consistent they are from distance with a premium setup. Shoot me your number through PM. Would love to connect. I’m just outside Frederick in Middletown.

There really isn't much to improve their performance between different setups. If your velocity is consistent, and your barrel has enough rifling, that's the majority of it. Beyond that, you can get into sorting your rounds based on barrel fit, and grouping them accordingly and possibly choosing a different barrel for each group.
