    Thoughts on Different Magazines

I was looking at getting a DAM magwell for a project I was thinking about, but they seem to be pretty expensive and difficult to come by in Canada.

My next favourite would be DMAGs because they're cheap and I have a couple local stores I could source parts from. Then tipx mags.

I have it in my head that the straight stack mags feed better than the 20rd continuous ones, is that misguided? I would primarily be using roundball but the option for first strikes would be nice (even if I have to swap springs). It would also be nice if the mags didn't put pressure on the stack until inserted.

What do you think? Anything else I should take a look at?

I've used TMC, DMAGs, Helixes and TIPX and my favorite have been TMC. They seem to be the least finicky. DMAGs feel chintzy, but have been generally okay. The Helix mags feel very solid. You need anal beads to load DMAGs and Helixes.

Thanks. I was aware of needing the beads for the Helixes. Could you just use the end of a barrel maid for the DMAGs to lock them down?

Yes, same with the DAM mags.

Having used milsig, dmag, helix, dam, tipx
my favorite are dam mags. They may be more expensive to start but they are bullet proof.

Also, with so many emf100s out there, mags are plentiful and you can share with team mates if needed.

I also prefer the straight stack mags, but have not tried the new cf20 ones. A lot of people say they are good though.

Pouches can be a bit tricky to fit sometimes

I like Dam mags especially for custom projects. People even cut them in half for ten round sticks. There are lots of printed lower options for them and they are cheap and durable.

20 round continuous work real good but are expensive and you really don’t need it. 10 n 10 of the standards slow you down make you think a lil more especially with expensive FS rounds.

What are you planning on putting it on?

Thanks for the insight guys. I should have mentioned that I already own an EMF100 and love my DYE mags (CF20s slightly less so). My main issue that is making me consider others is sourcing a magwell for the project. Like I said I have a couple stores locally that stock MCS stuff and DMAGs would be cheap enough that building a collection of mags from scratch wouldn't hurt my wallet too much.

Stilgar 100rd pod packs fit 20rd mags perfectly

Chuck E Ducky I'm planning on making a knockoff Automag MFG. I figured I have enough spare Automag parts that are in poor enough condition that I don't really mind if I mess them up.

anson yes, I will be at Ultimate with my EMF (and maybe my Automag if I can figure out an air setup).

I have all the Magfed markers out there and I share my dam mags and CF 20s between my dam and my mg100s. For FSR the best dam mags. For roundball, TMC mags by far.
