    K series being erratic

Ive got a K series in a full length stock, its shooting with erratic velocity and poor shot count. I ran two 12ies through it to confirm. averaging between the two was about 10 shots per cart. The plunger is a single 12 variant, what should I expect for shot count and whats my primary inspection for the erratic swings in velocity with a high and low of 150 to 275. is this all related to the single 12ie?

I get about 10 shots as well from a 12g velocity for me is actually pretty high >300 but quickly drops off. Without invasive modifications I think that’s all you’d get. Im in the process of experimenting with hpa. I have a SHP regulator I need to try out I only get 200fps with a standard 800psi tank. it’s not economical to use 12g with such poor efficiency.

Im willing to bet your tiny ass paint, and your massive barrel are to blame for the erratic swings, well that would play into the shot count also.
if you are shooting straight in feont of you, the balls are probably half way down the barrel bu the time you pull the trigger.

Before changing anything, I would hand pick the largest paint you can get out of the bag, load that, and try chronoing on one knee shooting up hill.

That may prove a more consistent shot, but I bet 10 shots per 12ie are still an issue.

When I play with my unmolested kp3, I get rollouts like mad.
I run mine on a 22ci hpa tank, and give modified my valve for Constant air, and hpa.

It shoots fine but I try to make a point of pulling the trigger as soon as I rack the pump.

What did you do to your valve to run hpa?

Glenn Palmer himself made a point to comment on one of my posts yeqrs ago, when I was still on Facebook. I was recommending someone try a shp reg for making their sheridan work on air.

He stated that you should be able to achieve velocity at 850 psi, and anything above that was an indicator of something being wrong.

imo, the best way to get them running on hpa goes as follows.

Cut the pierce pin off to allow more valve volume and flow.

Drill the air passages in the valve for better flow.

many guys also drill the air passage in the body, but my kp3 shoots 290 at 800 psi hpa, with just the 2 valve mods listed above.

Hmm I wonder what is going on with mine. Unmodified kp2 getting 200fps on hpa

Volume and flow dude. Try just drilling the valve air passages. That helps. On some Kps that's enough.

Mine was about 240 with just the valve opened up, so I took it back apart and hacked the pierce pin off. I was over 300, and had to dial my rva back.

You may also need a stiffer hammer spring. You could try putting a ball bearing in the back cap if you don't have a rva mod done to the back cap.

In my experience, bore size on it's own has had little to no impact on velocity.

Rollouts can cause inconsistent velocity - some type of wedgit will help, whether it be dents or nail polish in the barrel to help position the ball in the barrel.

Drilling the body to enlarge the air transfer port and modifying the valve ports will vastly improve velocity and consistency, based on my own experiments with my rifle builds.

My KP2 got between 30 and 35 shots per 12ie after all the work I did to it. Was it a considerable amount of effort? Sure was. Was it worth it? To me, yes. If I'd had to pay someone, no not really.
And God turned to Gabriel and said: “I shall create a land called Canada of outstanding natural beauty, with majestic mountains soaring with eagles, sparkling lakes abundant with bass and trout, forests full of elk and moose, and rivers stocked with salmon. I shall make the land rich in oil so the inhabitants prosper and call them Canadians, and they shall be praised as the friendliest of all people.”

“But Lord,” asked Gabriel, “Is this not too generous to these Canadians?”

And God replied, “Just wait and see the neighbors I shall inflict upon them."
