Hey all, I was curious if anybody uses anything in particular to keep their highly polished brass markers from tarnishing? I’m considering using wax since lacquer seems like it might just scrape off around the pump and look messy. I know it will require stripping and polishing eventually if I want to keep that mirror finish, but I’d like to ward off the tarnish as long as possible.

In my expierence you just re polish after every use.
Little brasso and a soft cloth.
from what I know, most people just polish once. And earn the patina it grows after that.

If you want to go to extremes, there is what's called "Instrument Lacquer" used on brass musical instruments.
A clear, Nitrocellulose based lacquer sprayed on. I used it working for a pipe organ manufacturer.
A quick search and you can get it aerosol cans.

Car wax, a good Carnuba but without the "ceramics" and whatnot, helps for a while. But really, as above, I'll polish once the gun's done, and then just periodically repolish as needed. If you have it on display, the car wax preserves it for a while.
Haven't tried furniture waxes, I don't like the sprays. I want a paste where I'm not coating the whole gun, grips and all.

Nope let it tarnish makes the bore smaller

I'd love to see a picture of that P68 if you've got one! Did you do the coating yourself?

There's a picture of it here:

I'm Navy, so none of my brass gets polished, which makes things simpler, and patinated patterns are unique.
