    Any experience with mech ion's?

Due to how cheap ions are in general I have been thinking of putting together a mech ion for fun. I know that TFGPB makes some kits so does SSC and I guess I could drop in a qev if I really wanted. I've heard that they also shoot way smoother then one would think, is this true?

I prefer mine to an Emek, personally. I've built several, including a couple double-barrel versions.

Tfgpb does not currently have kits, and SSC only has a 3way mount, not a complete kit.
And God turned to Gabriel and said: “I shall create a land called Canada of outstanding natural beauty, with majestic mountains soaring with eagles, sparkling lakes abundant with bass and trout, forests full of elk and moose, and rivers stocked with salmon. I shall make the land rich in oil so the inhabitants prosper and call them Canadians, and they shall be praised as the friendliest of all people.”

“But Lord,” asked Gabriel, “Is this not too generous to these Canadians?”

And God replied, “Just wait and see the neighbors I shall inflict upon them."

Huh didn't know SSC only sells the mounts, are they for autococker 3 ways, or smav 3 ways, like the ones in the TFGPB kit?

        They're for SMAV 3ways.

I made a mech ion with the 2FG kit and is faaaaasssst, and really fun to shoot, actually. I found the stock ion trigger works perfectly with it, making a very short, snappy pull.

Getting all the hoses in the grip without popping off the barbs and leaking can be a challenge.

This came at a good time. I've got 3 ions from a friend that if I build some mech ions, I get one and he gets the other while I also get to keep the remaining parts.

          Update:
Thank all of you guys for the help, the ion I ended up buying off eBay reportedly has a solenoid that only works some of the time, couldn't that be due to a low battery at the least? Keep in mind I can't test anything yet it's still In shipping, but I do still plan on making it mech, just wanna know if the boards salvageable

Could be the battery or something else, such as a damaged/loose capacitor.

I'd try a battery first, if that doesn't work then either the noid is toast or some other part on the board is. If you're thinking of making it a mech gun then it matters not anyways

Turns out the board works fine, but I'm still planning on falling through with making it mech, and using a SSC kit, unless 2fgpd gets some

Not quite. The mech ion trigger pull is much better. At least compared to the original emney valve. I haven't tried the new version yet. Plus a mech ion has a much higher cool factor.

The newer he valves are a good bit snappier. But you can also drill the frame to make the trigger adjustable and it can be set to be on par with a mech ion.

Sooooo... You didn't build a mech Ion?

If you are still interested in it, there is a link to "that other site" that has a super cut and dry way of doing it. I'm going to tackle this project this fall for all the junked Ions I intertied.

So I ended up falling through with the SSC kit, it's not the worlds lightest trigger pull but I feel it can easily hold it's own, I might use it this Sunday at a big game, if so I'll say how it goes

Looks like stanchy is offering full kits now, he's just waiting on valves.

Or, you can order smav3's & the t-barb direct from clippard, then all you need is stanchy's mount + hoses.

Hopefully I'm missing something here... Is the SSC kit anything but a 1-for-1 rip-off of the TFGPB design?
