I found a link from the old site but it never got backed up. Does anyone remember the dimensions for cutting that second groove for making a stock bolt to dual tail? I recall there was an image but I can't see who posted it. I'm working on a couple of mech Ions and want to add this to the builds.

Better efficiency as it allows the firing chamber to seal when firing. Dye owned a patent on this from the Matrix, so it would've had to be licensed to be included on the stock bolt. SP gave in later on with the Firebolt upgrade, along with some aftermarket manufacturers.Originally posted by lew View PostI have no experience with the Ion, but what is the intention of this modification?

What fullofpaint said, plus - electro Ions have programmable dwell parameters that allow them to function correctly, but with a mech Ion dwell is controlled by the user/trigger, and having that second oring seal the dump chamber off from the air source allows much better consistency regardless of how quickly or slowly the trigger is pulled and released.Originally posted by lew View PostI have no experience with the Ion, but what is the intention of this modification?

So Smart Parts were forced to manufacture a worse product, or pay licencing fees due to a patent... Well, if that isn't poetic justice, I don't know what is. I didn't know about that golden snippet of paintball history. Thanks for making my day a bit brighter.Originally posted by fullofpaint View Post
