    Smart parts SP8

Hello all, just recently found a smart parts sp8 in a pawnshop so I had to rescue it, but I noticed it was held together with deck screws, washers, and some kind of glue as the shell is cracked on the feed neck side.

    my questions are,
does anyone have any body pieces for sale?
do I have options such as 3D printing or body’s for ions?

Assuming the electronics function, and the armature head is not goop, everything will swap into an ion bodykit. Then all you need is a grip frame and trigger. Those can be had for dirt cheap. You probably won't be able to find an sp8 body. The finish was trash and the rubberized parts also turned to goo with time.

What is the armature head? Why would it be goo?

Inside the solenoid is an armature that blocks the 3 way valve. If someone along the line of ownership used the wrong lube, it's likely stuck or leaking. It can be replaced, and I have managed to "Save" atleast one by shaving off the affected area.

      Worth mentioning as well...

Some sp8 breaches were not threaded for ion feed necks.

Unless you really really love this thing you're likely looking at more money then it's worth to fix it

I knew that about the sp1, did not know that about the sp8.
