Impulse VASA help / semi tech question

Hi gang - I'm looking for VASA solutions to adapt to the front of my Desert Fox so I can mount a regulator upfront directly to body. The IMPULSE vasa looks like a good candidate.

I'm not too familiar with Impulses. Thinking of the vertical ASA see pic below....
    - is the small offset hole air through? (ANSWER: it is not)
    - anyone have ANY idea of VASA screw thread type? (ANSWER: it's 1/8 NPT)

Techically speaking, no I don't need a VASA I need a mounting block with air routing out the side -- but I think a VASA could easily meet that need at low cost as long as I can mount it and plug the end.

Don't mind the gauge port question on ICD pic. (I cannot!)

That tiny hole on the impulse vert ASA is not threaded or an air through. I believe it's just used to index the VA on the impulse body, which would have a small set screw on the underside of the body that would sit in it.

I think a MUCH better option here would be to use a Puma vert ASA. You'd just need to plug the top (tap & set screw) and then drill and tap the side for 1/8th NPT. The screw holes "might" even line up with what's already on the desert fox as far as mounting it to the body goes, they line up with my 98 fox vert mounts anyway, not sure of the spacing on the pre-98 foxes.

Desert Foxes are pretty rare. Pre 98 foxes like the one you have pictured even MORE rare. In light of this, I would strongly advise against permanent modifications to the desert fox body.

I just so happen to have a beat to death puma vert ASA laying around from a parts gun I've been stealing pieces from over the last several years.

If you are interested I could have my buddy do the machining and then have my father-law bead blast the scratches out. From there I could get it powder coated grey or black, or I could just send it to you and you could have it re-annoed?

    Just let me know man.

Please don't hurt that fox. 😢

      thanks for the input
I'd be curious to know more, what's the mounting? DF uses 2 screw 6/32 passthru, ~17.5MM apart on center. If this aligns I'd absolutely be interested in it, simply because any adapter is hard to find much less an OEM

Even better, since the objective here is a straight non-angle adapter, would be adapting Thundercat straight VASA but air sealing might be an issue on the two screws

As far as modifying the fox goes, I appreciate the POV and would counter that the mod is rather passive. Doesn't interfere with original function/prevent use in original configuration, not visible when assembled. The greatest risk is in the doing, and I'd be hiring someone more competent w/ proper equipment. Still, will reflect further on it. A 3rd option could be adapter plate to accommodate the Impulse vasa....

Mounting is 6-32 pas through screws.

About "This far" apart. I think this means it will work.

If you just drill and tap the center hole you could blue loctite a set screw in there and that would absolutely take care of all the air sealing concerns, although on the puma there was just an "o" ring shoved in that groove and they never had issues with leaks from that area so the set screw honestly might not even be necessary.

Here is how the angle lines up on my fox.

I know a guy locally who could do the machining for the 1/8" NPT port very quickly and reasonably, and as before offered my father-in-law could bead blast it to clean it up and powder coat it at no charge. Sorry the part is so beat, it came to me like that.
