    Method engine for Shocker ERA/Luxe

They claim that it makes the gun smoother and handle brittle paint better. What's your opinion? Marketing claim or real improvement?

My take is: shouldn't guns like the Shocker ERA and the Luxe Idol be able to handle brittle tournament paint in their stock configuration?

My thoughts exactly. Sounds like a theoretical fix for an issue, a new marker shouldn’t have.

I don’t have experience with it but that’s the first thing that pops in my mind when I see these new products claiming to make some of the top of the line performance orientated markers be softer on paint. Like what are you really doing and what are the trade offs. To me it’s just a common claim that would be super difficult to verify.

When was the last time you had ultra brittle paint that only worked in some modern electros? Like your at an event and only some of the markers can shoot the paint. If it’s a bad batch everyone is having the same issues. There is no Magic bolt system when it comes these new markers. Soft tips and all that jazz. Nah I’m good stock settings good detents and an over bore will shoot ultra brittle paint the best.

Half the time it breaks in the pods and the hoppers before the marker won’t sling it anyway. It’s likely Snake oil…

Agreed. The designer for this kit is the same guy who designed the DSR engine, so I assume it's designed well and has theoretical improvements over stock, but whether those mean anything in the real world, I'm doubtful.

Like Chucky said, I've never encountered paint that works in one decent gun and not another (assuming both are clean and working properly).

The dsr also had how many upgrade bolts released later?

John Chambers. He's also one of the guys behind the Gamma Core.

In fact, I'm gonna buy an ERA mechanical and drop one in there as well. I think it's a great setup. I only recently started using tournament grade paint. I finally realized guys weren't wiping my paint, it just wasn't breaking. Anyhow, it should come with the upgraded bolt IMHO. But, hey. Kids gotta eat. I get it.

I watched a video doing side-by-side comparison of the Method bolt system vs stock. It almost seems like the Method core is a bit louder/poppier compared to the stock bolt system. Although from what I've heard, the method core is prioritizing paint handling over shot-quality.

I loaned my Era to a friend on Sunday. We were using regular paintballs at 53 degrees F and everyone had tons of barrel breaks or even chops (well except for me as I was using my LV2, which I adjusted accordingly). My Era in his hands broke a fair amount of paint. I may look at getting the Method bolt kit after all.
